Get a New Yard with New Trees for the New Year

We love planting trees all year long, no matter what time of the year it might be! It doesn’t hurt that we live in an amazing part of the country that lets us plant and care for our landscapes, even in the winter months! Along with the great weather, we also grow our own trees and palm trees, so we get to pamper them from the moment we plant the seedling on our farm to the day we plant the tree in your yard. Our trees and palms are always at optimal health and ready to be planted even during the colder months. Below is a list of what we consider the best cold-hardy trees to plant during the winter season. Check it out….

Piru Queen Palm

Our Piru Queen Palms are one of our most popular cold-hardy trees all over the southwest. They are grown from superior seedlings with the best genetic qualities, so that you get the hardiest palm you cannot find anywhere else! These palms can easily tolerate Texas weather, feature dark green palm fronds and produce fuller crowns that gives you nice shade throughout the day. These palms are low-maintenance trees that can work in any landscape style and fit right in with the rest of the yard. Add curb appeal by planting them as a focal point in the front yard or lining a driveway, creating a majestic entrance. Our Queen Palm is the perfect choice to create a tropical paradise around pools and backyards.

Pindo Palm

PINDO-1

This palm has attractive silver-green, arching fronds. It is a cold-hardy, drought-tolerant palm that thrives in full to partial sun, perfect for the southern Texas region. The Pindo Palm goes well with Mediterranean and tropical landscape styles. Highlight the beautiful features of the Pindo Palm with landscape lighting to show the elegant arching fronds! This palm is an attractive low-growing tree that can handle our chilly winters. The Pindo is an excellent choice for growing in containers and being placed on a patio or in a small garden- anywhere you want to create a relaxing environment. There is no doubt that they also look amazing poolside.

Magnolia Tree

MAGNOLIA-7

The Magnolia Tree is an evergreen tree AND an ornamental tree that is sure to turn heads in any landscape setting. Its large leaves provide a thick canopy of shade to your yard. They flourish in many conditions, which is why they can be found all over the southwest area. Another amazing feature of the Magnolia is how little maintenance is needed to care for it. Magnolias are easy to grow, and they thrive in our long summers. We love it for its year-round foliage and ability to look fantastic in many different landscapes styles. Want to add classic beauty with tons of variety to your landscape this spring? Look no further than the always popular Magnolia.

Live Oak Tree

LIVE OAK-6

This is the Mighty Oak of the South, sometimes even referred to as the Southern Live Oak tree, so it fits right at home in any Texas yard. This is a clean evergreen shade tree with dense dark green foliage that can make plenty of shade in your yard. This is one of those trees that can create lifelong memories. It features strong limbs for attaching a tire swing or climbing for hours of fun. This hardy evergreen can handle windy conditions and drought, too. We recommend buying our Specimen sized Live Oaks to get to enjoy them as soon as they are planted in your landscape!

Monterrey Oak Tree

This tree is also commonly known as the Mexican Oak depending on what part of the country you are in but here in Texas we call it the Monterrey Oak. This Texas native features a spreading canopy that can create thick shade in the summer to help with our hot months. Plant a specimen size tree and have a picnic in the shade and under a beautiful canopy. They have exotic-looking green foliage that will definitely have a different and more unique look than any other oak trees around. When it drops its leaves, it can let the light in during the winter. These oak trees have a long lifespan so that generations upon generations can enjoy this great family tree.
