Your Guide to a Weed Free Yard!

Written by Felipe Benavides | 3/20/2018

Right now, the weeds in your lawn may look small, but they will multiply and get big, especially now that our weather is starting to heat up. No one likes weeds, and if you have allergies, you probably hate weeds! There is good news. We spoke with our experts at Moon Valley Nurseries, and we compiled these tips for a weed-free yard now, and into the summer!

Want a Weed Free Yard? Remove the Weeds Now Before They Get Too Big!

It cannot get any more straightforward than physically pulling weeds. Sure, it can be a great physical exercise, and it is probably not the way we want to spend our weekend. However, the sooner we do it, the better, and pulling weeds in the morning is going to be the best time.

Do not let the weeds grow and get big. With each passing day, the roots of the weeds grow deeper, and the flowers have more time to spread more weeds around the yard by pollination. So, get out those gloves and put some muscle into yanking the weeds out. Also, be sure to remove the entire weed. You can always use a shovel or hoe, too!

Now, if your yard is more like a weed jungle, it is a good idea to pick up an herbicide from Moon Valley Nurseries. We stock what you need to remove weeds.

Weed Free Zone (for grass): Bring back the look of your beautiful green lawn using Weed Free Zone. Use this product, and you can control more than eighty of the most stubborn weeds in your yard. We also like to use this product to control out of control grass.

Killzall: What’s in a name? Well, KIllzall is straightforward. This product works fast and can eliminate broadleaf or grassy weeds quickly. We like to use this product to clear turf for lawn renovation and to prevent stump regrowth. It is also used to clean areas near fences, paths, patios, driveways, and buildings.

Other Options to Keep Weeds Away

It is starting to heat up, so remove weeds now! There are other things we can do in addition to pulling out weeds and using the herbicide products to remove weeds.

Mulch: Using mulch is an excellent option for keeping weeds from growing and taking over your lawn. You see, weeds are just like any other plant – they need sunlight to survive. Applying mulch will block the sun and act as a barrier to keep weed seeds away! Visit your nearest Moon Valley Nurseries location and get a bag or two of mulch.

Proper watering: Try not to over-water. Look for any broken lines and be sure to check that an area is not getting over-watered.
