Breathe Easy: The Benefits of Houseplants

Written by Wyatt Honstein | 2/25/2025

Indoor plants are more popular now than ever, and a large part of that popularity growth is due to the health benefits associated with them. Houseplants do a lot more then just adding greenery to your home or office, they can also act as a natural air purifier. The average American spends nearly 90% of their time indoors, and most are unaware that air pollutants inside can cause the same damage to their health as outdoor pollution. Luckily, all houseplants purify indoor air!

By increasing oxygen levels and removing toxins from the air, houseplants offer many health benefits. Not only do houseplants purify air, but they have also been proven to reduce stress, increase focus, and improve overall well-being.

Houseplants add natural beauty to nearly any interior design style and complement any décor. When it comes to creating a calming atmosphere, indoor plants are the best way to accomplish that. By improving air circulation, houseplants can even increase humidity around the home or office! While all indoor plants purify air quality, some are better at this then others. Below are our 10 of our favorite indoor plants, available at select Moon Valley Nurseries locations!
